Luka Chuppi looks like it was made because Stree was a hit, Kriti Sanon starred in Bareily ki Barfi, and Kartik Aaryan has become Bollywood’s middle-cinema go-to-guy for delivering fourth-wall-breaking frustrated-male monologues. Throw in Pankaj Tripathi – who looks, kind of, lost – and Aparshakti Khurrana, and some of the faces that have become familiar because of the new Hindi films set in small town India. The only refreshing addition is Vinay Pathak – who plays Sanon’s patriarchal father. The story revolves around her and Aryan’s relationship – or the facade they put around their relationship. They discreetly start living-in, while taking all the advantages of being a married couple, till all hell breaks loose when their families get involved.

Luka Chuppi is directed by Laxman Utekar – who has been a cinematographer in such films as Dear Zindagi and English Vinglish. It is produced by Dinesh Vijan, and will release in theatres on 1 March.
