KriArj Entertainment, which has already shown great versatility with films like Rustom and Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, is now poised to unfurl a marquee of genres for its eager audience. Keeping its focus on content driven films, the production house spearheaded by Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor will release seven high-powered movies in 2018. Here's a look at the exciting genres they are foraying into –

BIOPIC

Some people are so inspiring that they become great subjects for cinema. Padman is the revolutionary story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented low-cost sanitary pads to improve menstrual hygiene for women in this country. Directed by R Balki, the film boasts of a heavyweight cast that includes Superstar Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor. Padman is produced by Mrs.Funnybones Movies along with KriArj Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment. "It is nothing short of divine intervention when I look back and see the journey we have made already. I thank each of our actors, directors and partners who have joined hands and made our vision for cinema a collective dream," says Prernaa Arora.

HORROR

Who doesn't love a nail-biting horror flick? Pari explores a formula that is huge on the international scene but under explored in India. Starring Anushka Sharma and Parambrata Chatterjee, this path-breaking venture promises all the tingles that come with a delicious mystery. Produced by KriArj Entertainment and Clean Slate Films and directed by debutant Prosit Roy, Pari is Anushka's third home production. With very little out yet about the film, Pari wowed everyone with its first look that was both unsettling and appealing.

THRILLER

We tend to look to the West for true blue thrillers. But come next year, turn your gaze towards Parmanu – The Story of Pokhran, an edge-of-the-seat thriller that will make every Indian proud. It's a true India Shining story! Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the film starring John Abraham, Diana Penty and Boman Irani, is an ode to the Indian army and scientists, who although ordinary people, truly accomplished extraordinary feats in the face of adversity. The film salutes, celebrates and truly embraces the slogan- Jai Jawan, Jai Vigyan. The film is a work of fiction, based on true events.

MUSICAL DRAMA

A father has dreams for his daughter and will not stop till they are realised. The idea that she will have everything he couldn't forms the tapestry of this heart-warming musical drama- Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Fanne Khan. The film stars Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao and Divya Dutta and is directed by Atul Manjrekar.

Release date: 15th June 2018

SOCIAL DRAMA

A good social drama gets the audience to connect with a movie through a common man's tribulations. You come away feeling inspired and motivated to create a change. KriArj Entertainment's Batti Gul Meter Chalu directed by Toilet: Ek Prem Katha director Shree Narayan Singh is one such inspirational, socially relevant tale. Shahid Kapoor will essay the role of a lawyer highlighting a regular tax-paying citizen's rebellion against power distribution sharks and the unrealistic generation of bills.

Principal shooting begins on January 19th 2018

CRIME

KriArj steps foot into the world of crime and gangsters with Vishal Bhardwaj's yet untitled project starring Deepika Padukone and Irrfan. The film will be a fiction thriller and promises to be a game changer.

ROMANCE

Nothing melts the heart of the Indian moviegoer more than a young refreshing love story and that is exactly what you will get with Kedarnath. Helmed by Abhishek Kapoor, this romantic adventure marks the debut of Sara Ali Khan opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. Kedarnath, is a love story set in the holy temple town of Kedarnath and has been shot at some of the most beautiful and untouched locations in the Kedarnath area like the Triyuginarayan Temple or the Akhand Dhuni Temple, held in reverence for the belief that Lord Shiva married Parvati here.
