Director Abhishek Kapoor (Rock On!!, Kai Po Che!, Fitoor) returns with Kedarnath, in which Sushant Singh Rajput purportedly playing a guide, falls in love with a tourist played by Sara Ali Khan (making her debut) during the 2013 real-life floods.
It’s a teaser, so we don’t get dialogues, but visuals of a montage set to Amit Trivedi’s music. We get a sense of what floods in the mountains look like: A sweeping panoramic shot shows Rajput’s character running along the river bank as it swells violently. He meets Khan’s character and they brave through the disaster together (the darkened, high-contrast sky at look a bit CGI-heavy). What else? Religion. Rajput plays a Muslim (seen doing his aazaan even in the most adverse conditions), and Khan a Hindu. And it all unfolds against the backdrop of one of the most sacred Hindu temples, situated in the Himalayas.
Kanika Dhillon (Manmarziyaan) has written the screenplay. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor, Kedarnath releases on 7 December.
