A Rrroaring Comeback: SS Rajamouli’s RRR Team Resumes Shoot With “Double The Grit”

The team behind Roudram! Ranam! Rudhiram! (RRR), one of the biggest films being made in India and SS Rajamouli's first film after the blockbuster Baahubali series, posted an update on the film's progress by giving us a making video that really has the power to lift spirits.

But can a behind-the-scenes video really do that? Guess it can, when accompanied by a rousing score composed by long-time collaborator MM Keeravani. Though it only provides a fleeting teaser of its stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan towards the end (one of them is one a bike while the other is on a horse), the resumption of this shoot will bring real cheer among audiences, given the scale of the film. At a time when we had accepted that cinema was shrinking to fit smaller screens, it comes as a welcome sign to see a director who thinks really big to get back to the sets to make a film that is best watched in theatres.

In the video, shot almost like a one-and-a-half-minute hero introduction scene, we see covers coming off different props from the sets…  a vintage car, costume boxes and guns, with the video culminating in a masked Rajamouli shouting 'Action' and a shot of a "Shoot in progress" board being erected.

Another element that's really heartening is the sight of dozens of workers getting back to the sets. Sporting gloves and face masks, we also see a crew member taking extra precautions to sanitise different properties before shoot.

The update ends with a surprise announcement that asks viewers to brace themselves for #RamarajuForBheem, a character introduction, on October 22. A teaser to Ram Charan's character Alluri Sitarama Raju was revealed on March 27 on the occasion of his birthday.

Earlier this year, the first-look of the film created a lot of buzz when it introduced to us the fire versus water elements to describe the mood of the film. And in English, RRR stands for 'Rise, Roar and Revolt.'

RRR is a period action drama set in the pre-Independence era.  It is a fictional account based on real-life freedom fighters Komaram Bheem, played by Junior NTR, and Alluri Sitarama Raju, played by Ram Charan Tej.

The cast includes stars such as Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Olivia Morris, besides British actor Ray Stevenson, who was seen in the series Rome and Alison Doody (Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, A View To A Kill).

The film is produced by Dasari Veera Venkata Danayya of DVV Entertainments.

Cinematography is by KK Senthil Kumar and A Sreekar Prasad is the film's editor. The film was originally slated to release on January 8, 2021 in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil.
