The makers of Ajith's Valimai released a short preview today titled 'Glimpses of Valimai' which begins with visuals of bike stunts and a voiceover that suggests that the film is about a criminal biking gang ("we are slaves of Satan," they say) that's busted by Ajith's Arjun, a cop. We get the first shot of Ajith in the teaser through a screen of fire. Karthikeya Gummakonda appears to be playing the antagonist. Ajith even gets a punchline in to him: naan game aarambichi romba neram aachu, thambi (it's been a long time since I started playing the game).
In one the stunts, Ajith leaps between two skyscrapers on a bike, before a lightning bolt creatively strikes him and transforms him into the letters 'Ajith Kumar'. As he says at the end of the teaser: this could be something big.
The makers had released an update in the form of a motion poster in July with a tagline: power is a state of mind. Set to a groovy beat by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the motion poster showed Ajith in his racing Avatar. The film was originally supposed to release in October 2020 but the makers did not come out with any update during that period. Subsequently, even promotional activities were kept at hold during as a result of the pandemic resulting in fans trending on-and-off the hashtag #ValimaiUpdate.
A single 'Naanga Vera Maari' was released in August. A typical high-energy hero introduction number with motivational lyrics, the song along with the background score of the motion poster has created an expectation for the film's music. Valimai is Yuvan's collaboration with Mankatha and Arrambam.
Apart from the star, other actors in the film include Huma Qureshi, Yogi Babu, Achyuth Kumar, Pearle Maaney and Kartikeya Gummakonda. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the film is being shot by Nirav Shah. Valimai is directed by H. Vinoth, and is his second collaboration after Nerkonda Paarvai with Ajith. The film is produced by Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects who recently tweeted that it releases for Pongan 2022.
