Jayam Ravi Gets His Career Best Opening With Tik Tik Tik

Kollywood's big June 22 release Tik Tik Tik is having a successful run at the box office. The initial reviews from the media were mixed but the film is reportedly drawing in family audiences and children in sizeable numbers. Its unique space genre has done the trick, making it Jayam Ravi's career best opening, if we go by Tamil Nadu box office gross. Miruthan and Thani Oruvan are two of his other films which had particularly impressive opening collections.

After its opening 3 days, Tik Tik Tik grossed 11.78 CR (around 13.5 CR in 4 days) in Tamil Nadu with the collections improving progressively over the weekend. The Chennai city gross for the first 3 days was 1.83 CR (54 lakhs + 62 lakhs + 67 lakhs). The TN theatrical rights of the film are worth around 12 CR and it has covered good ground in its weekend. Theatre owners are upbeat about the film and had to allot extra shows over the weekend to meet the public demand. Jayam Ravi is being appreciated by the trade for consistently trying new genres and also having a certain clout at the box office.

Tik Tik Tik also put up a decent performance in Bangalore city. The total Karnataka gross for the first 4 days is said to be around 75 lakhs. Meanwhile, the film's Telugu dubbed version opened to positive media reviews. Jayam Ravi and director Shakti Soundar Rajan visited Hyderabad on June 25 to promote the film. Ravi told the press that he would soon do a direct Telugu film to capitalize on his fan base in the Telugu states.

Ravi's in a good space now – his next release is Adangamaru (his 24th film). He plays a cop in this film; the first look posters were launched soon after Tik Tik Tik's release.
