Pihu Trailer Talk: Baby’s Day In

What if you take out the protagonist of Baby's Day Out, put him in the premise of Home Alone — both directed by John Hughes, by the way — and instead of a comedy makes it into a thriller? You get something like what Vinod Kapri's Pihu looks like, with a baby girl instead of a boy.

The potential perils, here, are not the burglars who might break in, but the hazards hidden in plain sight in any urban home. For example, Pihu (Myra) locks herself up in a fridge, and in her attempt to get out of it, ends up breaking a bottle. Whether she manages to avoid shards of the broken glass the trailer doesn't show. Hungry, she might overheat the roti in the microwave, and not know how to stop it. The water she spills reaches the fairy lights, and there could be a short circuit. But why would any parent in their right mind leave their baby alone? We see Pihu's mother, possibly dead, lying on the bed, as if she didn't wake from her sleep that morning.

Produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Shilpa Jindal, Pihu will release on 16 November.
