Writer is shot by Pratheep Kaliraja, edited by Manigandan Sivakumar and music by Govind Vasantha. Produced by Pa.Ranjith, Abhayanand Singh, Piiyush Singh, Aditi Anand, the film is set for a theatrical release on December 24.
Makers of Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise released a trailer for the film showcasing red sandalwood being smuggled by those living in the forests of Seshachalam Hills in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. Allu Arjun's character, Pushpa Raj, is one among them and is pit against men with power and money. Fahadh Faasil plays the role of Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat IPS, in his Telugu debut.
The film, directed by Sukumar, also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu and Vennela Kishore. Music is composed by Sukumar's long-time collaborator Devi Sri Prasad. The song 'Oo Antava… Oo Oo Antava', featuring Samantha, was also released earlier this week.
Pushpa: The Rise will be in theatres from December 17.
Directed by Seenu Ramasamy, in this fourth collaboration with the actor, Maamanithan is the story of an auto driver with hopes of becoming a politician. The film also stars Gayathrie, Anikha Surendran and Guru Somasundaram. Notably, Maestro Ilaiyaraaja collaborates with his son and renowned composer Yuvan Shankar Raja for the film.
Gandhada Gudi is a documentary film starring the late actor Puneeth Rajkumar, directed by and co-starring Amoghavarsha, a wildlife photographer. A teaser that was released showed breathtaking visuals of Karnataka's biodiversity, forests and natural habitat. Reportedly, the film also has extensive footage of the actor exploring underwater life in the Arabian Sea. It is slated for a release in 2022.
Roudram! Ranam! Rudhiram! (RRR) is a fictional narration of the story of two revolutionaries, Alluri Sitaramaraju and Komaram Bheem, who lived in different periods. Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, the film stars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. An action-packed trailer released this week also showed the other characters played by Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody and Ray Stevenson. The film is shot by K.K. Senthil Kumar and edited by Sreekar Prasad with music by M.M. Keeravani.
Gautham Vasudev Menon announced his latest collaboration with Silambarasan with Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, the actor's 47th film. It is produced by Dr. Ishari K Ganesh, shot by Siddharth Nuni and edited by Anthony.
The trailer for Ahammed Khabeer's upcoming Malayalam film, Madhuram, was released. The film starring Joju George, Sruthi Ramachandran, and others is about a bunch of strangers who meet, for the first time, at a hospital. The film is produced by the actor Joju George and Sijo Vadakkan under the banner of Appu Pathu Pappu Production House. It is expected to stream on Sony LIV.
Makers of My Dear Bootham, written and directed by N Ragavan, released a motion poster introducing Prabhudeva as a genie. With fantasy-like visuals set in a mythical land, cinematographer U.K. Senthil Kumar has shot and created the visuals. San Lokesh has been roped in as the editor and D.Imman is the music director. The film also features Ramya Nambessan. It is produced by Ramesh P Pillai under the banner of Abhishek Films.

Ravi Teja's Ramarao On Duty, directed by Sarath Mandava, has announced the release date to be March 25, 2022. The film marks the debut of the director as well as the actor's first production venture.
The upcoming Tamil film Rocky, starring Vasanth Ravi, Bharathiraaja, Raveena Ravi and Rohini, directed by Arun Matheswaran has got a release date. Produced by C.R. Manoj Kumar and presented by Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara under the banner of Rowdy Pictures, the film will hit the theatres on December 23, 2021.
Action-thriller FIR, written and directed by Manu Anand will release in theatres in February 2022. The actor has also produced the film under his banner, Vishnu Vishal Studioz. Gautham Vasudev Menon, Manjima Mohan, Raiza Wilson and Reba Monica John will also be seen in the film.

Bollywood actor John Abraham released the first look of the upcoming Malayalam production, Mike, at an event in Kochi this week. Directed by Vishnu Sivaprasad, this marks the debut for actor Ranjith Sajeev. The film also stars Anaswara Rajan, Jinu Joseph, Akshay Radhakrishnan, Abhiram and Sini Abraham.
Makers of Night Drive, directed by Vysakh, starring Roshan Mathew, Anna Ben and Indrajith Sukumaran released a first look poster. The film is written by Abhilesh Pillai and produced by Priya Venu and Neeta Pinto. While Ranjin Raj is the music composer, Shaji Kumar is the cinematographer and Sunil S Pillai is the editor.
Kavitha Lankesh is working on a documentary on the life of Gauri Lankesh, a renowned journalist and the filmmaker's sister. Kavitha Lankesh is making this film as part of an entry to a film festival organized by Free Press Unlimited, Amsterdam, highlighting crimes against journalists. Gauri Lankesh was assassinated by unidentified persons at her residence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar on September 05, 2017.
Director Arun Bose announced his next Malayalam film, his second after Luca. Actors Unni Mukundan and Aparna Balamurali have been roped in as the leads. The film is produced by Salim Ahamed under the banner of Allens Media. Mala Parvathy, Prashanth Murali and Jaffer Idukki will also feature in the film.
Director Ajai Vasudev has announced his next film titled Pakalam Paathiraavum starring Kunchako Boban and Rajisha Vijayan. The film is written by Nishad Koya with Faiz Siddik, who previously worked on Operation Java as the cinematographer. Riyas K Badhar is the editor and Stephen Devassy is the music composer. Produced by Gokulam Gopalan, VC Praveen and Baiju Gopalan, it'll be presented under the banner of Gokulam Films.
A lyrical video of the second single from director Vishal Venkat's Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal was released this week. The song titled 'Yaar Vazhiyil' is composed by Radhan and sung by Dhanush. The lyrics are penned by Snehan. The film stars Ashok Selvan, Reyaa, Nasser, Manikandan K, Abi Hassan, Anju Kurian, Praveen Raja, Riythvika, K.S. Ravi Kumar, Bhanupriya and Ilavarasu.
The 13th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK), organized by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA), began last week. It was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Minister of Culture Saji Cherian presided over the function as well. As many as 220 films are to be screened across categories.
The release of Prithiviraj Sukumaran's next Kaduva, directed by Shaji Kailas, has been stayed by a Kerala court, following a plea filed by Jose Kuruvinakkunnel, a businessman and planter based in Pala, who accused that the central character of the film is based on him and that the release of the film would cause him "irreparable injury."
