Jeo Baby

Where: The Great Indian Kitchen

Why: The Great Indian Kitchen was a film that came out of nowhere onto an OTT platform none of us had even heard of (Neestream). But this true-blue indie snowballed into a phenomenon with viewers across the country and it became an even bigger point of discussion on social media. Jeo’s style was minimal and almost painfully cyclical, but it needed to be to show how mundane, tiring and humiliating a housewife’s life could be in such a household. And as Nimisha Sajayan’s character walked away from this house, we got a splendid tracking shot that revealed without any dialogue that sadly, her story wasn’t so special. She was just one of thousands.
