Why: How do you write a film that revolves around 15 equally important characters (all played by great actors) and make us empathise with each and every one of them? If there’s anyone who has the answer, it’s the writing trio of Muhsin, Sharfu and Suhas. Together, they created a script so tight that it would fall apart even if you were to remove a single scene from it. Yet, despite the sombre mood of the film, given how it’s about the people who got together to nip the Nipah Virus in its bud, it manages to be tender and soft, leaving room for even laughter. It’s a disruptive screenplay that will be taught in film schools for its craft, and for its ability to combine broad genre thrills with intimate human-scaled drama.
