Sharmila Tagore’s journey in films began with the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s 1959 Bengali film Apur Sansar. She stepped into Hindi cinema with the 1964 film Kashmir Ki Kali. What followed was a phenomenal body of work with films like Aradhana, Chupke Chupke and Amar Prem, to name a few. Her notable Bengali films include Aranyer Din Ratri, Protidan & Amanush, amongst others.
Over the years, she worked with some of the most esteemed filmmakers and actors in the industry and carved her niche with not just stellar performances, but her iconic style and grace.
