FC Trailer Talk: Indu Sarkar

Indu Sarkar is set in 1975 when then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi unilaterally declared a state of emergency that lasted 21 months. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, the film tells the story of a young, defiant woman, played by Kriti Kulhari, who decides to stand up against the injustices of the Congress-led government. Kulhari, whose character has a distinct stammer, is most known for her performance in Pink which earned her a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Starring Anupam Kher, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kirti Kulhari and Supriya Vinod, the film will see Bhandarkar return as director after the 2015 film Calendar Girls. The highlight of the trailer is actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who is almost unrecognizable as Sanjay Gandhi.

The film will also see music composers Anu Malik and Bappi Lahiri team up for the first time. Scheduled to release on 28 July, the film is produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and Mega Bollywood Pvt. Ltd.
