Cannes 2017: Sonam Dazzles Again On The Red Carpet

If the French names and the long trains leave you confused, we are breaking down the fashion choices of our leading ladies at Cannes this year.

THE LABEL: Elie Saab

OUR SAY: Cool things happen when Sonam and Rhea Kapoor put their heads together with Indian designers for their Cannes looks. Sonam has been championing her Indian heritage at Cannes in the most exciting ways since her debut appearance six years ago – whether it is cool young names such as Masaba Gupta and Rimzim Dadu or fashion veterans like Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Anamika Khanna.

Channeling a Frida Kahlo-esque vibe, Sonam was a beautiful bright spot on Day 2 in a red kaftan and turban look by Anamika Khanna. She moved on to showcasing her love for the Cannes sea and sky in a floating blue kaftan by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, that we think is the ideal holiday outfit for the French Riviera. Keeping it fresh, even though it was her third outfit for the day, the mint green Masaba Gupta cropped trouser-sari will go down as another one of Sonam's fun interpretations of the Indian look.

If 2016 was the year of Ralph & Russo, 2017 is all about Lebanese couturier Elie Saab, and looks like Sonam's main intention for the red carpet this year was to dazzle. The plunging neckline and the cinched waist added the sexiness while the gilt and the train heaped on the drama to the gold gown that looked even more spectacular from the back.
