The Great Indian Family Box Office Collection: Vicky Kaushal Starrer Has a Slow Start

A family drama written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, The Great Indian Family follows the story of Bhajan Kumar (played by Vicky Kaushal), and his struggle with identity after receiving a letter disclosing that he was born a Muslim.

The Great Indian Family's box office collection has been a major letdown. Sacnilk Entertainment's early reports reveal that the film only made Rs. 1.4 crore on Friday, Rs. 1.72 crore on Saturday, and just Rs. 2 crore on Sunday.

According to Sacnilk, the Vicky Kaushal film has only made a meagre Rs. 5.12 crore domestically over the weekend. Predictions for Monday show a further dip in numbers — the film is expected to earn only Rs. 0.75 crore today.

Kaushal’s last release Zara Hatke Zara Bachke made over Rs. 5 crores on its opening day and about Rs. 23 crores on its opening weekend. Compared to that, The Great Indian Family has had a dramatically slow start.

“This is in no way taking away anything from his popularity or his abilities as an actor which I think are truly terrific,” Film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi told Film Companion.
