Our Favourite Devdas Performances

Team FC

Shah Rukh Khan

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas might be the best remembered by this geenration, buoyed by its relatively recent release (2002) and a stunning performance by Khan, invoking both pity and distaste for the titular hero.

Dilip Kumar

Before Khan, there was Dilip Kumar, hot-headed, impulsive and mischievous in Bimal Roy's Devdas. Kumar works his magic, convincing in his grand love and self-sabotage.

Abhay Deol

In Anurag Kashyap's modern retelling of Devdas, Deol plays the angry and angsty hero with such familiarity that it exemplifies why the character has found such resonance across the years.

KL Saigal

Considered one of the last singing superstars of Hindustani cinema, KL Saigal played Devdas in 1936. His voice and performance in "Piya Bin Aawat Nahi" remains a classic.

PC Barua

But the OG Devdas is PC Barua, the actor and filmmaker who brought the literary character to life on-screen for the fist time. Often considered the best rendition of Devdas, the performance catapulted Barua to stardom.
