Whenever I had doubts or there was some creative block, I used to tell myself “ Don’t leave this project you have to do this. If it’s not coming out on the paper, how will it happen on set? But I had to do it because I wanted to do a film with Rajni sir.
Alot of people told me “No, Don’t make him play his age. Let him do whatever he has done already. But I was little confident or not confident about it. Even If It Fails, Let it be with my gut. Whatever I feel I’ll make it, if it works or doesn’t work, It’s on me.
What I feel is for big films people come to theatre to celebrate and enjoy, just to feel the aura of the theatre. For me Rajnism is the backbone of Jailer (2023). My goal was to pull maximum number of audience into the theatre.
Knowing His audience and what he has done in over 50 years, that itself is a big confusion for me, whether I can satisfy Here and There I did something over the top but that’s what people expect from Rajni sir I feel.
I was thinking about the interval block for a month. How to stage that scene? Because I wanted him to be too cool in that scene than the film. Rather than him fighting what happens around him should be like more interesting and never seen before in his films.
