Ben-Hur (1959) 

This epic directed by William Wyler is a remake of a 1925 silent film of the same title. It is the story of a nobleman, Judah Ben-Hur who was sentenced to years of punishment after being accused of treason by his adopted brother, Messala. However, he returns to seek revenge and challenges him to a chariot race.

Sense and Sensibility (1995) 

This period drama film, directed by Ang Lee is based on Jane Austen's 1811 novel of the same name. It tells the story of three young girls who find themselves in difficulty after their father’s death. The responsibility of the family falls upon the oldest sisters, who are also dealing with the changes and heartbreak.

 A Beautiful Mind (2001) 

This biographical film directed by Ron Howard is based on the story of John Nash, a genius mathematician. He is a brilliant but asocial man who takes up secret intelligence work in cryptography and is faced with disorder and cruelty. 

Boyhood (2014) 

This movie directed by Richard Linklater was filmed over 12 years with the same cast. It is a coming of age story that depicts the childhood and adolescence of a boy named Mason as he grows up in Texas with divorced parents and a sister. 

Moonlight (2016) 

This film directed by Barry Jenkins explores the concepts of masculinity, sexuality, race and discrimination. The story follows the life of Chiron, a young African-American boy, as he grows up in Miami. Chiron finds a mentor in Juan, a drug dealer who teaches him to create his own destiny.

Nomadland (2020) 

This film directed by Chloé Zhao is based on the 2017 nonfiction book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Burder. The story follows Fern, a woman in her sixties who gives up her job and home to live as a nomad. She meets new people and learns more about herself on the road.
