Taste of Cherry (1997)

This is a minimalist drama film written and directed by Abbas Kiarostami. The story follows a middle-aged man in Tehran, who drives through the city in search of someone willing to bury him after he commits suicide.

Soul (2020) 

This is an animated fantasy film directed by Pete Docter and Kemp Powers. The story follows a music teacher who falls into a coma after an accident. He seeks to reunite his soul and body so that be can make it for his big break as a jazz musician.

C/o Kancharapalem (2018)

This is a slice of life film written and directed by Venkatesh Maha. The film is set in Visakhapatnam, following four unconventional stories that are tied together by love and goodness. 

Bicycle Thieves (1948) 

This film is one of the classic Italian neorealist films, directed by Vittorio De Sica. Set in post-war Rome, the film tells the story of a man whose bicycle is stolen, which he desperately needs for his job. So he sets out to find it with the help of his young son, Bruno. 

Masaan (2015) 

This is an independent drama film directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. The film is set by the Indian Ganges, telling the story of a few people’s lives that are affected by morality, tragedy, loss and the cycle of life. 

Rashomon (1950) 

This is a drama film directed and written by Akira Kurosawa, popularly known for its unique plot device. The story provides subjective and contradictory versions of the same incident, resulting in the Rashomon Effect.
