Directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, this film follows the story of an NRI who returns with his ailing grandmother to Old Delhi. He explores and connects to the place and eventually gets caught up in a few disputes that lead him to danger.

The Truman Show (1998)

This film by Peter Weir follows the life of Truman Burbank, an insurance salesman. He lives oblivious of the fact that his entire life has been a TV show but once he uncovers the truth, he decides to escape. This film has relevant themes of surveillance, virtual life and the depiction of it.

Minnal Murali (2021)

This film follows the story of Jaison, who gains superpowers after being struck by lightning. He is tasked with fighting off the parties with evil intentions, to become the superhero that his rural village needs. The film by Basil Joseph is a very refreshing and fun superhero story that would sustain across multiple episodes.

Room (2015)

This film directed by Lenny Abrahamson is a shocking and absorbing story based on the 2010 novel of the same title written by Emma Donoghue. The story follows the escape of Joy and her 5 year old son after years of captivity in an isolated room.

Oh! Baby (2019) 

This film by Nandini Reddy, is a remake of the South Korean film Miss Granny (2014). We follow the fantasy journey of Savitri, a 70-year-old woman who is transformed into a beautiful 24-year-old. This film explores many themes about womanhood, beauty, and society.

Dune (2021) 

This film is a detailed fantasy world exploring themes like power, free will, politics and ecology. This story has been adapted in multiple formats earlier, but the version directed by Denis Villeneuve is the most recent and fits the bill visually and structurally to be spread across a series as well.
