Ek Hasina Thi (2004)

Sriram Raghavan's directorial debut - a revenge drama starring Urmila Matondkar and Saif Ali Khan - took its title from a Laximant-Pyarelal song that featured in Karz (1980), crooned by Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar.

Om Shanti Om (2007)

Farah Khan not only took from Karz (1980) the title of the song composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and sung by Mohammed Rafi but also integrated the film into the narrative of the romance-rebirth-revenge saga that was the Shah Rukh Khan-vehicle Om Shanti Om.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)

Ayan Mukerji's coming-of-age romantic drama starring Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor took its title from a song in Jawani Diwani (1972), composed by R.D. Burman and crooned by Kishore Kumar.

Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)

Zoya Akhtar's third feature used a title that belonged to a song from her second - Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), which was composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and performed by Suraj Jagan, Joi Barua, and Shankar Mahadevan.

Baar Baar Dekho (2016)

The song which Nitya Mehra's time-travel romance owed its title to came from the film China Town (1962), and was composed by Ravi and sung by Mohammed Rafi.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)

Karan Johar's musical drama featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, and Ranbir Kapoor borrowed its title from the C.I.D. (1956) song "Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahaan)", composed by O.P. Nayyar and sung by Mohammed Rafi and Geeta Dutt.

Jawaani Jaaneman (2020)

In Namak Halaal (1982), Asha Bhosle sang Bappi Lahiri's composition "Jawani Janeman" which, thirty-eight years later, became the title of a Saif Ali Khan-starrer directed by Nitin Kakkar.

Jaane Jaan (2023)

The Sujoy Ghosh-directed Keigo Higashino adaptation took its title from an R.D. Burman composition performed by Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar for the film Jawani Diwani (1972).
