This cult classic with an ensemble cast is about the disastrous first journey of the fictional Super Express, India’s fastest passenger train. The Burning Train was one of the highest-grossing films of 1980, despite its high budget.

Padayottam (1982)

The first 70mm film of South India, Padayottam is the epic tale of a prince who returns home to take revenge against those who conspired against him. It was the most expensive Malayalam film of its time.

Razia Sultan (1983)

This period biography tells the story of the first female ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, Razia Sultan. The film was made on a grand scale and won the Filmfare Award for Best Art Direction, although it did not perform well at the box-office.
