7 Most Anticipated but Disappointing Movies

Bombay Velvet (2015)

Despite being highly anticipated because of its star-studded cast, Anurag Kashyap's vision, and a huge budget, this film failed to resonate with the audience due to its underwhelming plot.

Jagga Jasoos (2017)

Maybe we weren't ready for a detective film that's also a musical. Or perhaps it was too long and contained too many childlike jokes and potentially a messy plot to be palatable. Nonetheless, it was a brave attempt to bring something different to the big screen.

Shaandaar (2015)

This rom-com film has an attractive duo of brilliant actors and Vikas Bahl, who was supposed to be on a roll, at its helm. But the story just did not land, and the poorly done animations in the film needed to see their demise at the edit table.

Brahmāstra: Part One - Shiva

The anticipation was palpable for a movie seven years in the making, with the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor-Ayan Mukerji duo at its heart. But the impressive VFX could not compensate for the clunky dialogues, shoddy pacing, and surface-level acting.

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

Any Marvel movie is met with oodles of expectation; sometimes, that can be its downfall. While aiming to be a grand narrative about love, religion, human helplessness, and many other themes, the movie came up short as a successor to the highly appreciated Thor: Ragnarok.

The Dark Tower (2017)

Adapting Stephen King's novel series is a huge ask, and fans of the author couldn't wait for this film's release. Mathew McConaughey and Idris Elba could not save this film because the plot missed the mark on incorporating the correct themes from the books.

Suicide Squad (2016)

When a team of supervillains from the DC comics unite to save the world, protecting the audience from a flat and predictable plot and leveraging the potential of a brilliant cast, including Jared Leto, Will Smith, and Viola Davis, took a backseat. You can watch it for Margot Robbie, though.
