Perks of Being A Wallflower (2012)

This is a drama film directed by Stephen Chbosky, based on his novel of the same name. The film follows a teenager, Charlie who writes to an unnamed friend and depicts his struggles from unhealed childhood trauma and the anxiety of making new friends. 

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994)

This is a romantic comedy film directed by Kundan Shah, starring Shah Rukh Khan as Sunil. The film follows the story of Sunil who is failing at wooing the girl he loves and gets caught up in a lie about his academic performance as well. 

Lady Bird (2017)

This is a comedy drama film written and directed by Greta Gerwig in her directorial debut. The film has Saoirse Ronan as the protagonist, who must strive to navigate through the ups and downs in her relationships with her peers and family, while also preparing for college applications. 

Persepolis (2007) 

This is a biographical drama film based upon Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel of the same name. The story follows a young, rebellious girl as she leaves Iran, struggling through her teenage years, escaping religious fundamentalism and extremism. 

Udaan (2010) 

This is a drama film directed by Vikramaditya Motwane in his directorial debut. The story follows Rohan, a teen who is forced to live with his oppressive father after he is expelled from boarding school.

Whisper of the Heart (1995) 

This is an animated drama film directed by Yoshifumi Kondō, based on the manga title with the same name. The story follows a teenage girl who falls for a boy who has previously checked out all of the library books she chooses. 

Killa (2014) 

This is a drama film directed by Avinash Arun. The story revolves around Chinmay, a boy in 7th grade who is struggling to cope with the death of his father and a recent relocation due to his mother’s job.
