Vijay rejected this film as he didn't find the script having much scope when the director, Dharani, narrated the film to him. The film went on to become a hit with Vikram as the lead.

Singham (2010)

The super-hit film starring Suriya was initially offered to Vijay, but he turned it down for reasons we aren't sure about.

Mudhalvan (1999)

When the director of the film approached Vijay as his first-choice actor, Thalapathy did not want to pursue the film as he didn't want to do political films. The film went ahead with Arjun Sarja as the lead.

Sandakozhi (2005)

According to reports, Vijay turned this film down after hearing only the first half, and then director Lingusamy went with Visha as the lead. When the film was a success, Thalapathy called and congratulated the director himself

Dheena (2001)

One of AR Murugadoss' first films, he initially narrated it to Thalapathy, who turned it down for unknown reasons. The director then went with Ajith Kumar, and the film's success propelled Ajith to stardom.

Anegan (2015)

K.V. Anand had Vijay in his mind initially for this period romance film, and although he loved the script, at the time Vijay had his hands full with two films, Jilla and Kaththi. In fact, Vijay himself suggested Dhanush for the role, and it went on to become a hit.

Autograph (2004)

Director Charan approached Vijay, Arvind Swamy and Prabhudeva for the titular role in the film, but they all rejected the script. Interestingly, Charan himself ended up headlining, and the film was a critical hit, winning a National Award.
