Dev Anand

Anand and his older brother, director Chetan Anand, created Navketan Films in 1949, their first release being Afsar (1950), directed by Chetan and produced by and starring Dev. The company had a revolving door of directors, the likes of Raj Khosla, Vijay Anand, and Guru Dutt all directing films. The company's most recent release was the 2011 film Chargesheet.

Shashi Kapoor

Kapoor founded Film-Valas in the 70s, and backed the unusual Junoon (1979, directed by Shyam Benegal, as his first production. The company produced five more films with directors like Govind Nihalani, Aparna Sen, and Girish Karnad calling the shots.

Pooja Bhatt

Bhatt ventured into production with Tamanna (1997), directed by her father Mahesh Bhatt. She has gone on to produce nine more films since, including the likes of Zakhm (1999), Sur: The Melody of Life (2002), and Jism (2003).

Shah Rukh Khan

Khan co-founded Dreamz Unlimited with Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza, and their first production was Mirza's Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000), which starred Khan and Chawla. The company produced two more films, but then shut down, following which Khan created Red Chillies Entertainment, though he has only held producing credit on Kaal (2005) and Don 2 (2011).

Aamir Khan

When Ashutosh Gowariker's ambitious Lagaan (2001) found no backers, the film's lead took matters into his own hands, forming Aamir Khan Productions, which has since made nine more films, most starring Khan himself.

Saif Ali Khan

Khan turned producer in 2009, forming Illuminati Films with Dinesh Vijan to back and star in Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal. The company produced five more films, four of them starring Khan, before shuttering. In 2018, Khan founded Black Knight Films, and starred in the first production – Nitin Kakkar's Jawaani Jaaneman (2020).

Anushka Sharma

Sharma and her brother Karnesh founded Clean Slate Filmz in 2013, with their first production – Navdeep Singh's NH10 – releasing in 2015. The company has gone on to back multiple films and shows since, including the likes of Paatal Lok (2020), Bulbbul (2020), Qala (2022), and Kohrra (2023).
