Schwarzenegger is great as United States Army Special Forces Colonel John Matrix. The film has fantastic action sequences filled with machine guns and grenades balanced with emotional and humorous scenes.

While not his best film or even a great film, the Last Action Hero is a meta action comedy which has a certain charm to it. Schwarzenegger plays a common man who gets transported into his favourite action film.
