8 Upcoming Amazon Prime Video Streaming Shows To Look Forward To In 2020

Amazon Prime Video, the digital platform arguably responsible for the best Indian streaming shows to date, has unveiled its upcoming lineup with 8 new Indian original series to look forward to.  Along with these, the platform has also announced new seasons of its popular show including Mirzapur S2, Inside Edge S3, Made In Heaven S2, 4 More Shots Please S2 and Breathe S2 which sees Abhishek Bachchan making his digital debut.

The announcement adds to the roster of Bollywood filmmaking talent jumping on the digital bandwagon, with new shows from creators such as Nikkhil Advani, Ali Abbas Zafar, Sudip Sharma and Anand Tiwari among others. Listed below are the 8 new shows we're looking forward to most.

The Last Hour

Celebrated director Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna, Mindhunter) makes his Indian debut serving as producer of the upcoming Amazon Prime Series The Last Hour. Starring Sanjay Kapoor and Raima Sen the show is a supernatural thriller set in a Himalayan hill station, created by Monsoon Shootout-director Amit Kumar.

Bandish Bandits

From director Anand Tiwari (Love Per Square Foot, Bang Baaja Baaraat) comes a show described as a 'musical love story' between a pop star and classical singer. With a soundtrack composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, the show stars Naseeruddin Shah and Atul Kulkarni among others.

Dilli

As the face of Bollywood on the small screen, Saif Ali Khan continues his digital streak making his Prime Video debut with Ali Abbas Zafar's Dilli. A thriller based on the dark corners of Indian politics, the show comes from Article 15-writer Gaurav Solanki and also stars Sunil Grover, Mohd Zeeshan Ayub and Sarah Jane Dias.

Paatal Lok

From showrunner Sudip Sharma (the writer behind Sonchiriya, Udta Punjab and NH10) comes a crime thriller which serves as a scathing commentary on modern-day India. With a cast that includes Neeraj Kabi, Gul Panag, and Jaideep Ahlawat, that's a whole lot of talent in one project and we are sold.

Gormint

If there was ever a time we needed a laugh at the expense of Indian politics it's now. AIB's highly-anticipated but much-delayed political comedy finally sees the light of day. The show which was supposed to star Irrfan Khan, will now see Manav Kaul in the lead, along with Shikha Talsania (Veere Di Wedding) and Girish Kulkarni.

Comicstaan Tamil

Amazon Prime Video's stand up comedy spotlight takes a much-needed look outside the traditional English/Hindi focus with Comicstaan Tamil. The popular comedy reality show aims to shed light on up and coming comic talent from the south, but who the hosts and judges will be remains to be seen.

Mumbai Diaries – 26/11

Director Nikkhil Advani goes digital with his latest true crime thriller Mumbai Diaries 26/11. The haunting story of the famed Mumbai terror attacks has seen a number of iterations recently, including ZEE5's upcoming web series State Of Seige: 26/11. Advani's take on the story boasts of a promising cast which includes Konkona Sensharma, Swetha Tripathi and Mohit Raina (Uri: The Surgical Strike).

Sons of Soil – Jaipur Pink Panthers

The only non-fiction show outside of Comicstaan Tamil to make the list is a documentary series based on Abhishek Bachchan's kabbadi team the Jaipur Pink Panthers. While not much is known about the show produced by BBC India, this will mark a first for the streaming platform entering the documentary series space.
