FC Trailer Talk: Raees

Shah Rukh Khan, the twinkly-eyed romantic charmer, pops up in movies regularly. But remember SRK, the on-screen badass? The one who electrified audiences in Don with his cool and gritty attitude?

Rahul Dholakia’s long-awaited crime drama Raees is looking to bring that SRK back. According to media reports, the film charts the rise of the titular character, a formidable bootlegging kingpin in Gujarat. The project was in some trouble this year after Mustaq Ahmad, son of rumoured Dawood Ibrahim associate Abdul Latif, on whom SRK’s role is loosely based, sued the producers for defamation.

Raees appears to continue SRK’s experimental streak at the box-office lately, after Fana dark celebrity parable, and Dear Zindagiwhich deals with mental health.

The trailer features fiery dialogues from a guyliner-rocking SRK about the supremacy of dhanda over everything else. How very Walter White/Heisenberg of him! Nawazuddin Siddiqui stars as the lawman in hot pursuit of Raees.

While Siddiqui and Khan battle on film, in theatres, Raees will face off against Hrithik Roshan-starrer Kaabil on January 25. May the best superstar win!
