5 Things You Did Not Know About Amala Paul’s New Movie

Not often do you get to see a woman-centric adventure thriller in Tamil; Amala Paul's Adho Andha Paravai Pola is one such film under production now. 3 posters from the film were launched on Women's Day and the film stands out from the regular lot. There seems to be a strong underlying purpose in this. We find out more in this exclusive feature:

  • Adho Andha Paravai Pola will be Amala Paul's most physically demanding film and the actress is reportedly performing all the stunts on her own, without resorting to a body double. Adds a source from the film's unit, "Be it climbing atop a 40 feet tree or drowning into a 10 feet deep freezing swamp, Amala didn't hesitate one bit. She also picked up riding the Yamaha RX 100 bike (seen as a cool dude style statement among men) that you see in the poster in just a day's time. The only info that she needed was the bike's gear sequence and she was a complete natural on it. The film has a lot of bike riding sequences for Amala, through the forest, and she has been acing it. Given the forest base of the film, the daily shooting routine involves a lot of trekking and riding through rough roads. Amala has been totally co-operative, with absolutely no starry airs about her. We will be shooting in forest zones all over the South."
  • The seasoned Ashish Vidyarthi is also a part of Adho Andha Paravai Pola's cast. The stunt union's president Supreme Sundar is being introduced as an actor. He joins the likes of Stunt Silva, Kanal Kannan, Super Subbarayan and Dilip Subbarayan, as one more stunt master – actor in Tamil cinema. Noted TV host Sameer Kochhar also makes his Tamil acting debut. Adho Andha Paravai Pola is one of the few Tamil films to have employed the services of a dedicated screen writer (for story, screenplay and dialogues), A.R. (aka) Arun Rajagopalan. The director usually doubles up as the writer in most other Tamil films. The importance of a screen writer is regularly emphasized by pundits specializing in Tamil cinema.
  • The film's poster designs have been kept raw and natural, in keeping with the film's style and treatment. Needless effects and frills have been avoided. The words 'rise, resist and survive' that we see on one of the posters, are relevant to the film's title (the soaring bird) and survival-based theme. The poster designer is 20-year-old debutant Akilan Nagarajan, who lives in Pune. He is quite popular online, for his innovative poster designs. It seems none in the film's team have even met Akilan yet. All the co-ordination with him so far, has been done online. For a proper understanding of the film's requirements, Akilan was given the full-bound script before he began work on the poster designs.
  • A lot of real life events, pertaining to social issues and brave women, have been incorporated into Adho Andha Paravai Pola with the necessary fictional additions. Post release, the crew expects those events and the characters in question, to be discussed seriously in reviews.
  • The film's title, borrowed from the legendary MGR song 'Adho Andha Paravai Pola', has not just been picked for its recall value and catchy quotient. Being one of the evergreen liberation songs featuring the biggest icon in TN, it has a strong resonance with the film's theme and lead character.
